Botulinum toxin injections for wrinkles

Dysport®/ Vistabel® (Botox®) injections have enjoyed huge popularity among those who desire conservative treatment of face and forehead lines. Dysport®/Vistabel® (botulinum toxin of type A) injections work well for wrinkles which appear on the forehead, between the brows and in the eye-corners (the so-called crow’s feet). Botulinum toxin blocks the transfer of a nervous impulse within muscle synapses and temporarily relaxes muscles into which it is injected. The effectiveness of Dysport®/Vistabel® injection depends on the type and thickness of your skin and the degree of visibility of wrinkles. Possible results will be explained to you by a plastic surgeon.

The area of injections can be anaesthetised with anaesthetic cream. Using a thin needle the preparation is injected exactly into the target points by relaxing only those muscles which are responsible for the formation of wrinkles without changing the expression of the face. Even though some specialists also make injections into the lower part of the face we are avoiding this due to a risk of paralysis of the facial muscles.

24 hours after the therapy our patients are recommended to avoid heavy physical strain, and refrain from using the solarium or sauna. The result does not become visible right away and lasts from 3 to 6 months depending on the area of wrinkle smoothing. Contractions of the selected muscles normally disappear within 3-5 days. Upon expiry of the preparation’s effect the injection can made once again.

At the presence of localised wrinkles in the upper part of the face this therapy smoothes the skin, helps delaying facial rejuvenation surgery and evaluate possible results after it, and does not produce any side-effects as these doses are very small for the human organism.

Considering patient’s physical state and health and seeking maximum safety our plastic surgeons:
– will not perform procedures to pregnant or breastfeeding women
– will not perform procedures more often than every three months.
